Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Christmas Musical

Every year the children's choir puts on a musical for Christmas. Last night they had their musical called "Back To The Manger". The kids played a really well role. They had a "time machine" that made them go back or forward in time. They had certain kids for each time era that were dressed up to fit in. The play itself was long, but then again the kids did a great job and I am very proud of them for working so hard. Our kids choir consists of kids from kindergarten until sixth grade. This picture is from the end of the play when they were thanking everyone for coming out.

Colonial Heights High School Holiday Concert

Thursday December 5th, I went with my best friend to her high school to see the Holiday Band and Chorus Concert. It was so boring because I don't do band or understand anything they have to do. But she enjoys it so I went with her. She sometimes has to explain to me what is going on. But the music itself was nice to listen too. They had Christmas music and some other songs that they had to do for a conference that they had to go to the month before. This is a picture of my best friend and one of the band members.

WOW 2014

Back in 2006 a group from Mount Pleasant Baptist Church and Colonial Heights Baptist Church came together and decided to create a program in Colonial Heights for Middle School girls. It is an eight week program that is every other year. During the program, the girls learn how to find their self-worth, and they learn how to be Godly woman. I was in the program in 2006 and in 2008. I worked the program in 2010, and 2012. This year I am on the staff team again. We will start in January with WOW 2014.

Tis the Season

My friend Kayla's PawPaw loves Christmas. My mom loves to put up Christmas trees. Since PawPaw is not doing well health wise, we went over before Thanksgiving and put up the Christmas tree so he could enjoy it. They don't really think he will be able to make it past Christmas.

Halloween

Last night was Halloween, I dressed up as a blue Crayola Crayon. My best friend came over and she was a female version of Davie Crocket. Also my little neighbor next door that I watch all the time was a ladybug, EK's three years old. We didn't go trick-or-treating, Brittany and I came to the barn but then left.

Big Daddy Weave, Chris August, and Unspoken Concert

Sunday October 27th, I went to a SOLD OUT Christian concert at Colonial Heights Baptist Church. Unspoken opened the concert, and then Chris August came on, and lastly, BDW ended with the final hour of the concert. BDW and Unspoken are both Christian bands that are well known and are featured on K-Love the radio station. Chris August is a young Christian singer, and he plays guitar and piano. He's pretty cute.

KD's HallowScream

On Saturday October 19th, I went to Kings Dominion for their HallowScream. I went with my best friend Brittany. We drove up early that morning and stayed the whole day. It was fun. It sprinkled constantly but it was cool to see all the different Halloween costumes and how they did their makeup. I'll admit it was very scary. I lost my voice. But I would definitely go again. It was a good day out.

This past Sunday, October 6th, Shiloh was given an $8,000 check to go towards the Shelter. At Mount Pleasant Baptist Church we sponsor missionaries. Shi has worked so hard for the shelter, and we were more than happy to support her for this amazing cause. She now has only $4,000 left to raise for this particular year. But because it is a shelter, they have to raise $24,000 each year. Continue to pray.

Update on Shiloh Shelter

A few weeks ago, on the 21st of September.. we had a yard sale fundraiser to raise money for Shiloh Shelter. We had everything from furniture to baby clothes to strollers.  We are very thankful for all of the wonderful supporters that came out and donated or bought something to help. Because of this fundraiser, we were able to raise a little over $2,000.

Shop 4 the Girls!

Five years ago my youth pastor and his family packed up and moved to India to be missionaries. In India if they find out they are going to have a girl they either abort the baby girl, or after they have the baby girl they will just leave her. Two years ago at age fifteen my old youth pastors daughter had a vision to open an orphanage for the baby girls. Being only fifteen she needed help and guidance to be able to follow thru. Just recently they were able to get a building. They are in desperate need for volunteers to help work as well as helping with the foundation of the building. We have been told as of right now it is going to cost thousands of dollars yearly to maintain it. I realize it is last minute but if your free this Saturday, the 21st, we would love to see you at the fundraiser we are hosting for Shiloh's Shelter. We do not have any clothes, but we have shoes, tons of furniture, old antiques, and things for your yard. Come out and support an amazing vision. Shop for the girls! Learn more and follow up at Shiloh Shelter.

First post, so I thought.

Two weeks ago I wrote this "about me", I thought I had posted it but it looks like I didn't. So here goes nothing. My name is Samantha Skelton, everyone calls me Sam. This is my first blog post and I am not really sure of what to write about. I attended Lloyd C. Bird High School in Chesterfield County, and I graduated in 2012. I am the only child, but I have nine cousins that are close enough to be considered brothers. I am the only girl out of all ten of us. Half of my family lives within 5 minutes of me. I use to work as a lifeguard when I turned fifteen, but the past two years I have been working at my dads company. I answer the phones sometimes or file paperwork. I am studying at Richard Bland and planning to graduate with an Associates Degree and later transfer to Savannah College of Art and Design. There I would like to become a Fashion Photographer. I enjoy taking pictures, and watching football. I cheered for ten years, and I swam for fifteen years. I am a huge college football fan. I DO NOT like Virginia Tech. I also don't like NFL, I think they get paid way too much and they don't play hard enough. In college they actually work for it. Well I guess that's it for now.
